Christy Cassarly, PhD

Christy Cassarly, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a Senior Biostatistician in the Data Coordination Unit (DCU), an NIH-funded statistical and data coordinating center at MUSC that specializes in the design and coordination of multicenter clinical trials. The DCU serves as the Statistical and Data Coordinating Center (SDCC) for numerous NIH-funded multicenter clinical trials and two clinical trial networks (StrokeNet and SIREN).  Dr. Cassarly has experience and expertise in the planning, implementation, and analysis of Phase II and III clinical trials. With emphasis in stroke recovery and prevention, she serves or has served as the PI and statistician for several NIH-sponsored multi-site clinical trials. Dr. Cassarly also serves on the StrokeNet Prevention Working Group, as the statistician of an NINDS-appointed Data and Safety Monitoring Board and has served on numerous NIH Grant Review Panels. On the academic level, Dr. Cassarly collaborates to publish on methodological issues in clinical trials, such as randomization and study design.
